LibraGen

Based in Toulouse, France, LibraGen develops new enzymes through the use of tools that allow the expression of genes from meta-genomic libraries. The meta-genomic techniques used by the company allow the production of enzymes from microorganisms that cannot be cultivated by going directly from gene to enzyme product. The company also works in partnership with client companies to develop enzymes for specific applications. As an example, in September 2008 LibraGen announced an agreement with DSM to discover and develop transaminases for the production of chiral amines.
